Support for women in Bukavu – Democratic Republic of Congo

The project promotes the development of a women’s agricultural cooperative in Kaniola in Bukavu. The main objective is to ensure economic sustainability, with the intention of promoting greater empowerment of women and the schooling of their children.

In 2024, two young agronomists from Kaniola went to Same and participated in the training course in horticulture at the St Jacobus Institute in Tanzania.

They in turn began training the 50 women of the cooperative in Bukavu, then bought the land for growing vegetables and, after seeking contacts with the market in Kaniola and Bukavu, began community cultivation activities. The first community sale took place in January 2025.
